SWSA Third Round F3F League Results

After a rather disappointing December due to the weather, January looked a little more promising. With Clear skies forecast and the wind direction putting us on the VR 98 slope it looked all set for a good competition.

With a reasonable breeze on the VR slope the course was quickly up and the evergreen John Phillips got events underway with a 45.10 which turned out to be good enough to win the round.  Greg Dakin was second in the round with 48.72 just nosing in front of Joel West who flew a 48.83.

Conditions were starting to improve and Joel West took the next round with a 42.60. Tony Livingstone and Graeme Mahoney were just behind Joel with a 44.76 and 45.20 respectively.

Things were starting heat up in round three where Joel won the round again with 40.95 which turned out to be the fastest time or the day. Greg was right behind Joel with a 41.60 just piping Tony’s 41.67.

The wind was starting to cross a bit as more west came into it and drop a little. Mark Redsell made the best of it flying a 45.49 which just beat John’s 45.84. Simon Thornton took third spot with a 46.54.

And with that the wind dropped and what little there was had a lot more west in it. With not enough time to move the course to the Ice Cream slope that meant the day was brought to a premature end.

A big thanks to everyone who helped out. Especially Mark Treble who put his hand up to be buzzer supremeo,  Joel and his dad who sorted the flying order out for me and Clayton for collecting the money plus all those who helped get the course up.

It was a day for close times and the finish was even closer, It was probably no surprise that Joel West won the competition two wins and the FTD but the margin of victory was small. John Phillips was just behind Joel by 0.13 of a point. Tony Livingstone was rewarded for his consistence with a well deserved third place.
